Sam grew up on a dairy farm in New York State. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology at SUNY Oswego in 1976, and his Master of Science in Animal Science from the University of Kentucky in 1986, with a concentration in ruminant nutrition.
After two years as Manager of the Alabama Dairy Herd Information Association, Sam came to work for Culpeper Farmers’ Co-op in 1988. He works closely with customers developing nutrition programs for their herds, and with CFC personnel to make nutrition and feed related recommendations, in addition to feed formulation and pricing, quality control, and feed regulatory oversight.
Sam has served on the Virginia State Feed Association Board of Directors since 1992, twice serving as president, and also serves on the Feed Legislative and Regulatory Affairs Committee of the National Grain and Feed Association. He is also certified as a Professional Animal Scientist (PAS) in the areas of dairy and beef nutrition.
For all your questions about nutrition for your herd, call Sam. He can be reached at 540-727-8320, or you can email him at sstrahan@cfcfarmhome.com.
